Professor Piotr Major, PhD, is a distinguished bariatric surgeon and academic at Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, specializing in minimally invasive techniques for gastrointestinal surgery. With a rich educational background, including an MBA in Healthcare and extensive professional qualifications, he has made significant contributions to the field of bariatric and oncological surgery. Currently, as the Coordinator of the Obesity Surgical Treatment Center at the University Hospital in Krakow, Professor Major continues to lead advancements in surgical treatments for obesity and cancer.

Main professional and scientific interests:

The main area of my work are minimally invasive surgical techniques used in gastrointestinal surgery (metabolic and bariatric surgery, oncological surgery). In the center of my professional and scientific interests are issues related to the surgical treatment of patients with giant obesity (bariatric and metabolic surgery). Minimally invasive oncological surgery (colorectal surgery and gastric surgery) is the second group of my clinical interests. Comprehensive and coordinated treatment, the possibilities of using the protocol of modern perioperative care (ERAS - Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) are the third largest area of my professional and scientific activity.
